About Us

The Yard

There has been a boatyard on this site for many years, and before the leisure boating revolution, the tidal land where the boatyard now stands was home to many of the local fishing and commercial boats.

The present boatyard business has been operating on the site since the 1960's and has developed to keep pace with boatowners needs over the years

The yard has changed a great deal, even over the last few years, with the addition of protective 'rock armour', a new concrete jetty and a regular coating of gravel to keep things clean. This modernisation has given the yard more capacity and a safer environment for all those who use the facility.

The People

After moving to the area in 2002 Tim Long took over at Abersoch Boatyard Services in June 2004. Since that time he has invested in bettering the facility for its customers and also streamlining the boat handling operations allowing larger boats into the yard and giving the yard extra capacity.

Tim studied a boatbuilding and management course at Southampton where he graduated with a distinction in 2001. He has been involved with the marine industry for some 14 years, during which time he has worked with some prestigious companies to good advantage. He has also managed to maintain his hobby as a keen sailor and has raced a wide variety of boats from lasers to Whitbread 60's.

Emily, Tim's wife is usually the first person that people speak to at the yard and she is also our accounts manager.

Rob Crowther is our excellent engineer and crane driver. He is usually found in his natural habitat, either in, under or on a boat or tractor, or in his rotating office in the crane! Rob worked for several local boatyards before joining us in 2004.

Terry O'neill is the newest member of the team and is proving to be a valuable team player with a number of good all round skills.
