Welcome to the Timcast

Ah the weather continues! I'd say summer, but it just doesn't seem to have happened yet down here. Although the weather itself hasn't been fantastic there have still been a great many boating days which people have missed out on for one reason or another, which is a shame. Anyhow this weekend looks like a bit of a mixed bag with all sorts of weather in store, but I'm glad to say that there will be more sun that anything else, so rather than staying at home and grumbling about the price of fish I reckon you should all come to Abersoch for the weekend, you know you'll enjoy it and hey, when was the last time you were here?!

Friday 18th July

OK so today doen't look like the sun fiesta that it could be, but thats ok most of you are working so you can just read about what you are missing out on! The wind will be a brisk force 4 from the South West so it won't feel too cold out on the water. The water itself should be reasonably flat owing to the wind direction. Today will also be the warmest day of the weekend with temperatures at between 15 and 16 degrees. General weather will be overcast with the occasional shower here and there, but there will be some sunny spells throughout the day making it worthwhile having that day of work!

Saturday 19th July

Windy! Today will be a generally nice day with sunshine interupted only by the odd cloud and possibly a shower early and late in the day, which makes for a good boating day. The wind however will be rather strong at force 5. It will start from the West then throughout the day it will come round to a North westerly direction which will make it cold on the water during the afternoon, so take a fleece and some soup. Temperatures will be between 14 and 15 degrees so it is possible that the beach will be reasonably sheltered and you can take full advantage of the sunny spells in the shelter where it will be quite warm.

Sunday 20th July

Go boating today. Even if you haven't been down all weekend you should perhaps think about coming down today for a boating day out. The wind will be from the same direction as yesterday, North Westerly, and it will get lighter throughout the day going from force 4 to force 3 so it will be quite flat out there but still not overly warm it must be said, so the fleece and soup scenario will once again be required! Temperatures will be down again and at between 12 and 15 degrees it won't feel particularly warm anywhere, so ask Block to put the heaters on outside the pub which should give some comfort! Generally the weather will be sunny or very sunny with the odd cloudy spell here and there, but nothing to stop you going boating, so pack your picnic, grab your wife...or someone elses....and go boating!

Just to confuse you all this week I have added the extra hour to the tide times for you so they are correct! Enjoy your weekend whatever you decide to do, but you know you'd have more fun in Abersoch!

SERIOUS NOTE

Those of you who know me will be aware that I'm not an overly serious guy, however when it comes to boating, especially early season boating there are a couple of points that I feel I should mention. The water is still FREEZING, so be very aware of that fact if you are boarding or skiing, take some warm clothing on the boat with you or even better a flask of steaming hot soup! If it is the first time you have used your boat this season and especially if you are launching it yourself it is always a good idea to make sure the thing works properly. Check your battery, check your steering ( you don't want to do a Del Boy and end up in Harlech), make sure your engine runs properly before you venture out on the water, ( run it up on the muffs at the campsite). I'm not trying to preach to you guys but last year the Abersoch Lifeboat guys attended nearly 40 yes thats right 40 incidents, and more often than not they were powerboats that had broken down. As much as we enjoy going out on the big orange boat we'd rather not!

So in conclusion have a very jolly weekend!
